Classically Trained Studio
Amanda Santos, owner
My Background
A Florida native, I first made my operatic debut as Frugola in Il Tabarro with the Lyric Orchestra, following with performances in the operas Tosca, Suor Angelica, and Der fliegende Holländer, among others. Considered a soprano assoluta, I've performed both Suzuki and the title role in Madame Butterfly, as well as both Princess Eboli and Leonora in Il Trovatore. I have sung with the New York Philharmonic and Dresden Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera Guild, Encompass New Opera, and Princeton Festival. I've also served as artistic director for two grassroots opera companies- Opera Forza and Operallora, and am currently devoting my time to my students at Classically Trained Studio in Lawrence, NJ.

My Teaching Philosophy
Registration based technique
I work with students to strengthen each register of the voice independently, allowing for greater flexibility throughout the whole voice
utilize flexible teaching terms
Not everyone learns the same way, and not all concepts are interpreted consistently. I use a flexible teaching language to make sure my process is understood clearly.
Creating independent singers
I want my students to be able to address and correct vocal challenges on their own, without relying on my ears to hear issues. My teaching style encourages students to be self-aware and responsible for the sounds they create.
Encourage singing in public
I actively work to find audition and performance opportunities for my students. If a student is interested in pursuing singing more seriously, I also offer career and college coaching.
